Welcome to the Catholic Parish of Tavistock in West Devon and to the church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Mary Magdalene. We are a vibrant community with parishioners of all ages participating in parish life. Many of the events are described and illustrated in the "Activities" section of this website.
We have restarted community activities essential to the life of the parish; for example Lenten Lunch and a Walk for Hunger sponsored by CAFOD. For details please the Activities page through the Activities tab on the left hand side.
As part of Tavistock Festival 2022 a concert of Choral Music featuring Mount Kelly Chamber Choir and Levowan XII was held on Friday 6th May. More than 250 people attended a wonderful evening of singing.
A recent survey has shown that the church tower, more than 100' tall, is in need of repair. The Diocese applied for and received a significant grant from Heritage England in order that the work can be undertaken. The repair requires that scaffolding be erected to the top of the tower; the work will start in December 2021 and is expected to be completed by June 2022.
The parish is pleased to say we have received a grant from the Lottery Fund for a new sound and Loop system; and we wish to thank the Lottery Fund for this grant.
Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service, providing a confidential, personal and safe space for anyone who has been abused by someone in the Church or as a result of their relationship with the Catholic Church of England and Wales.
